Dr. Jaya Agarwal is a Senior Consultant and Assistant Professor in the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery at Amrita Hospital, Faridabad. With around eight years of experience, she specialises in GI oncology, robotic surgery, hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) surgery, colorectal surgery and solid organ transplantation.

Dr. Agarwal has developed her surgical expertise through training and clinical experience at some of the leading institutions in India. Her professional journey includes the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery and Liver Transplant at Amrita Hospital, Kochi, the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery at GB Pant Institute of Medical Education and Research, New Delhi, and the Department of General Surgery at PGIMER, Chandigarh.

During her postgraduate training at PGIMER Chandigarh, Dr. Agarwal was recognised as the gold medal-winning best outgoing postgraduate resident. Her MS thesis at PGIMER focused on the role of preoperative PET scans in identifying extra-abdominal metastasis in gallbladder carcinoma. During her MCh training at Amrita Kochi, she was involved in a randomised controlled trial evaluating anastomosis techniques in colorectal cancer surgery. Her super-specialty training also provided extensive exposure to complex GI, HPB and solid organ transplant procedures, including complex vascular surgery.

Dr. Agarwal's academic achievements include the All India TYSA Young Scholar Award in GI Surgery in 2021, along with multiple best paper and poster awards at national professional conferences. Her recognised work includes research on robotic donor hepatectomy and comparative outcomes of robotic versus laparoscopic low anterior resection for rectal cancer. She has also presented her work at international forums, including the World Congress of IHPBA in Geneva.

She has pursued additional advanced training in colorectal surgery through the FALS Colorectal Fellowship in Chennai and holds fellowships in advanced HPB surgery and liver transplant and organ retrieval. She is also a life member of professional associations including IHPBA, IMA and IAGES.
